
A delicious Indian inspired burger, topped with home-made
onion bhajis and a refreshing raita sauce.
Ingredients:
Burgers:
- 1kg lamb mince (or beef if preferred)
- 100g Tongmaster Balti burger complete mix
- 45ml cold water
- Fresh coriander - chopped
Raita sauce:
- ½ cucumber
- 150g natural yoghurt
- Mint leaves
Bhajis:
- 50g Tongmaster onion bhaji mix
- 280g onion – finely sliced
- 60ml water
- Lemon juice
Method:
- Add burger complete mix to minced meat and mix thoroughly.
- Add cold water and combine all ingredients, add a handful of chopped coriander.
- Press into burgers using the palm of your hand or using a burger press for a more professional look (available on our site), place in the fridge to chill.
- Finely grate the cucumber before placing in a muslin cloth to drain the excess liquid, when as much liquid as possible is removed, mix together with yoghurt, chopped mint leaves and a pinch of salt, place in the fridge to chill.
- Mix together the sliced onion with onion bhaji mix, cold water and a squirt of lemon juice.
- Heat oil or low cal alternative in a deep fryer or frying pan and heat to around 180°C (if deep frying, a drop of batter should sizzle as it hits the oil then float)
- Take one tablespoon of the mixture and carefully place into the pan (or submerge into oil depending on cooking method) using another spoon.
- Fry for 5-6 minutes, turning halfway, or until crisp and deep golden brown.
- Cook the burgers as desired (grill, bbq or fry) for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
- Serve in a burger bun, with a dollop of raita, salad and a fresh onion bhaji.
