Often referred to as potassium bitartrate, this powder is commonly used in baking and cooking.

  • Ideal for use in dessert recipes such as pavlova, the cream of tartar helps to stabilise whipped egg whites and cream.
  • Add to eggs when making lighter cake mixtures to help keep the eggs fluffy and well risen.
  • Often used when making candy or caramels, this helps to prevent the sugar from crystallising.
  • Make your own baking powder by combining 1/2tsp cream of tartar with 1/4tsp bicarbonate of soda.
